First FA Cup match for 2008. Remix have
always had a good record of advancing into
the later stages of the competition. We were
not going to take this match lightly.
Match started off under the hot blistering
afternoon sun. In the first half both teams
were searching for a goal. HIBS looked
good attacking forward but were cut out in
the end by a much disciplined REMIX
defence which was marshaled by
Vickneswaran s/o Pannerselvem and Justin
Prawiradiraja. REMIX had a couple of
chances but couldn’t finish well. Then came
the REMIX goal. Some swift attack on the
left by Zhang Jia Han saw him squaring the
ball across to Joey Wei who once again saw
his shot trickling into the goal. 1-0 REMIX.
HIBS did not let the goal affect them. They
still continued to attack strongly looking for
a goal before the break. HIBS were very
good in the air. They would pump their long
balls to their very very tall forward who
would knock it down or flick it to his players.
There was no way we would out jump him.
Half Time
In the second half for a good 15 mins, HIBS
has set up a tent in our half. They were
piling on the pressure. The REMIX defense
was not going to succumb to it. We did
whatever we could to stop them from
scoring. REMIX second goal came from a
counter attack. Faisal took a throw in from
the right. He saw Muhammad Salid
unmarked. Muhammad Salid received the
ball and passed it to Joseph Jeremiah
Michael who brilliantly back-heeled the ball
through the legs of the HIBS defender to
Kelvyn Vernon. Kelvyn Vernon took the ball
to the bar line before crossing to Joey Wei
who once again made no mistake with it.
2-0 REMIX. Soon after, HIBS were awarded
a freekick just outside the box. The very
well taken freekick was complemented with
an outstanding save by the REMIX keeper,
Yip Tan, who had a great game with a
couple of other important saves. REMIX did
not stop there. We went in search for
another goal. Melvyn Vernon did one of his
amazing runs down the right flank cutting 3
defenders before unleashing his shot which
was saved by the HIBS keeper. HIBS had a
chance that went begging and also a header
which rocked the goalpost. In the final 20
mins, Justin Prawiradiraja was replaced by
Sunder Durai, our latest signing. He did
really well in his first game for us.
Nevertheless it was a good result for REMIX
who played against a very experienced
HIBS side. Some of them were probably
twice our age, but its amazing how they did
not give up with their determination and
endless running. We wish HIBS all the best
for their season.
